Extra Information

PILOT RANKING.
Pilot ranks are fully explained on the website - http://www.fsopen.co.uk/info/pilotranks/

To increase your ranking, simply type your request into the comments box on your flight plan, e.g. please assess me for pilot ranking 2. ATC will see your request and assess you during your flight. When you have demonstrated your ability, ATC will increase your ranking. All ATC's have the ability to do this.

SUMMARY - DO'S AND DON'TS
DO make sure you are logged in to Pilot Assistant and have filed a flight plan before contacting ATC.

DO make sure you have logged into Teamspeak and joined the appropriate channel.

DO listen to other ATC and Pilots to get used to procedures before you fly for the first time.

DO make sure you understand instructions given to you by ATC. If in doubt ask!

DO NOT spawn on the runway.

DO NOT taxi at an airport with ATC without permission.

DO tune to the UNICOM Channel in Teamspeak when flying without ATC. You will be able to communicate with other pilots who are flying without ATC control and be able to notify each other of your intentions.

DO readback all instructions given to you by ATC, ending with your callsign.

DO NOT expect ATC to teach you how to fly your plane, especially during busy sessions.

DO keep communications with ATC down to an absolute minimum, especially during busy times. By keeping your eye on the Teamspeak Channel, you will be able to see how many other pilots are likely to be in contact with ATC. Common sense should prevail - if there are other pilots in your channel, DO NOT get into general chit chat with ATC and/or pilots. This makes it very hard for others to be able to communicate. Naturally, during quiet times, there is no harm in getting into general conversation with others in the ATC Channel, but be prepared to end your conversation when other pilots join.

DO NOT be offended if you get kicked from the session. Admin will only kick you for a valid reason, e.g. spawning on the runway, taxiing without permission, failing to acknowledge ATC instructions, etc. This is done solely for the benefit of other players. If you are kicked, check on the website to find out who kicked you, and then ask them where you went wrong. (Please, not while they are in the middle of a busy ATC session - wait till later!)

DO be courteous with other players, and most important of all -

DO HAVE FUN - ENJOY FSOPEN!
