Air Traffic ControlAt FSopen we wish to encourage anyone with an interest in ATC. From complete novice to virtual 'pro', our ATC training and events program has been developed to cater for all levels of experience. But if all you want to do is control for fun, you can do that too. FSopen permits any member to act as ATC at any time although we do place restrictions at certain aerodromes or times during notified events or training sessions. These sessions will be published on the FSopen homepage events calendar. How do I become an FSopen ATCO? Members who wish to take their ATC experience a step further will register their interest and join our ATC training program. This program allows access to our exclusive FSopen Flight Strip software and the opportunity to further develop their skills under the direction of one of our dedicated ATC team. FSopen ATC mentors are able to provide one to one and/or group tuition on all aspects of virtual controlling. Our techniques are based on current UK CAA procedures with phraseology adapted, where required, from the CAP413 radiotelephony manual. We have access to expert technical advice from our own ATC Technical Director who, himself, has more than 30 years real world experience in both military and civil ATC. With the emphasis on enjoyment, we aim to provide a high standard of ATC training in order to make FSopen a great place to fly. If you are interested in learning more about our ATC procedures and training just follow the links to the FSopen ATC pages or ask one of ATC Team in Teamspeak.
