Hi everybody.

What exactly does REX do with FSX? I have REX and I tried taking some screenshots first without REX and then with REX but I can't find any difference. When I start REX I already have my FSX on. REX loads the weather engine and on FSX it comes a message saying "REX connected to FSX" but nothing happens... the clouds look the same... the water looks the same... and the taxiways/runways looks the same! I'll try upload those pictures to you... Hope I'll get some answers from other REX users=) Not REX=

Hi Isak

When you install REX it updates and changes all your FSX textures ie. water, clouds, runways, lights etc. All that REX does when you run it alongside FSX is update your real world weather. When you installed REX you would have seen that you had many options for different sunsets, sunrise's, water effects, runway bump mapping as well as different clouds. Effectively REX lets you choose how you want your FSX to look when you're flying around your virtual world. When You start REX have a look at theme creation... there you can use preset themes or you can customize your own theme. once you have selected your theme you install it into FSX so your world will always look the way you like it even when REX is not running. However when FSX is running and the green bar comes up to say REX is connected to FSX what it is doing is downloading real world weather into FSX. As you fly around in FSX FSUIPC communicates with REX telling it which weather services you are near to or approaching which tells REX which data to download for the area you're in. You may often find if you start up FSX on a server you may spawn far away from the host airport but for a brief moment it might be raining when you load in but all of a sudden it might turn to blue sunny skies usually a good indication that REX weather is doing it's job.

Hope that answers all your questions and the ones you didn't ask lol(sorry get carried away sometimes)
