Blacklisting aircraft

Hello Dave,
In the FSOpen server software there is a list of aircraft that can be banned. Is there a way of adding to that list?

Derek - I think this is what you want. Let me know if you have questions.

Hello David,
Not quite what I meant. There is a small minority of addon aircraft that occasionally cause huge packet numbers. These can be dealt with by the auto-kick for high network traffic. But, there are another few aircraft that do not trigger the packet limit but they cause problems for other players that get within a few miles of them.

So, while there are specific exclusions (Trike, Gliders etc) and a pre-made list of other default aircraft to ban, is there a way to add or extent that list so that other specific aircraft models can be excluded?

I think the problem here is with the person who is suffering the bad frame rate and is blaming other players.

Say I have an add on plane, looks great but has lots of polygons in the model. Perhaps 10 times as many as a standard fsx plane. If a player joins the same session and your fsx decides to substitute his plane with your over-detailed plane, then your frame rate is going to suffer drastically.

Educate your players not to have add on planes with high polygons.

I used to remove all my add on planes for multiplayer, it does make a big difference.

Hello Dave,
I have to admit that at first I flinched at your reply, but on reflection you could well be right, this is an angle I had not considered - foreseeable, but unforeseen.

This does seem to affect players who also have addon aircraft and there could be some sort of substitution issue at hand. I know the players involved and the aircraft being used and will see if I can spot a pattern in future. Thanks for your input as ever.

I once joined a server where everyone was flying the same amphibious aircraft, can't remember what exactly, but we'd all downloaded the same aircraft. The plane looked great but with only 10 of us in the session, frame rates were single digit due to the amount of polygons in the model.
