Solution to the kick problem?

As we get bigger it becomes harder for all of us to recognise fellow members and this I believe has contributed to the increase in mistaken ejections from the server.

Firstly, It would help for thoose that join via direct connection to use the same name in fsx as in teamspeak. Confronted with two players, "John Smith" and "Knightrider17" I'd check that John Smith was in TeamSpeak. Certainly the very format of the name would suggest the player was a member.

Secondly, I'm thinking of changing the kick command so players logged on to Pilot assistant cannot be kicked, ever.

Should the need arise to kick a registered user then I'll add a Wallop command, resticted to managers. Managers can kick and wallop, admins will be restricted to kicking unregistered users.(Which 99% of the time works well)

So, apart from turning fsopen into what sounds like some sort of martial art class what do members think?

Dave - Thats a good idea... It would certainly improve the ongoing kicking problems...

But going forward if this gets implemented if your a registered member you must use Pilot Assistant to NOT get kicked am i right in saying that? So if you dont use PA and you are a registered member then you can still be kicked...

Hope to see it in place soon if everyone else agree too :-)

sounds good.

I think that all registered members should be using Pilot Assistant. Mainly because of the sych with Teamspeak which means the risk of tuning to a channel (and forgetting to change in Teamspeak too) and hence broadcasting to an empty frequency is reduced greatly.
Also, going forward: if Dave's suggestion is implemented, it means you can't get kicked accidentaly.

Makes a lot of sense Dave.

I was told to log on with my Gamespy ID which is different to my username and different to my real name. So I can see how it can cause confusion.

OK, If you are using pilot assistant you are now imune from kicks.

You can still be walloped by a manager though!

No!

I will create a new command called insult.

You can only insult managers not wallop them!
