Do come along Dave if possible, see if you can get some answers about FSX:SE session encryption.

Sorry Tim, didn't get home until midnight last night. I doubt dovetail want to work with us as they never responded to my last email to them. In the scheme of things fsx is only a very small income stream for them so very much doubt they will do much customisation for anyone.

Dave, I posted you an email today to Dave@fsopen.co.uk from RSDunn2@msflights.net regarding Dovetail's desire to communicate with you regarding FSOpen tools and FSX:Steam edition.

Thanks for bringing up the subject originally, Mr. Walters.

Respects, Bob...

G'day, Dave Wave, Tim Walters and other interested admins and pilots. Dovetail is Twitch broadcasting tonight at 1700UTC. We at msFLIGHTS.net are particularly interested in encouraging and, where able, facilitating any discussions between FSOpen and Dovetail regarding possible FSOpen-like tools for us FSX:Steam server admins and users. As Dovetail offered to answer submitted questions on-air, I took the liberty of posting as comment in their news announcement the following question:

[BEGIN QUOTE]

G'day, Martin. Have you received a contact email from Dave (Wave) of FSOpen.co.uk recently regarding the possibility of discussing with Dave bringing the valuable FSOpen tools to FSX:Steam? These FSOpen tools have historically been invaluable to multiplayer communities running FSX classic servers. The lack of FSOpen-like tools available to our considerable number of FSX:Steam pilots and server administrators continues to be the one major obstacle to a more complete integration of FSX:Steam into our multiplayer group flight, virtual airlines and air traffic control migration from FSX classic to FSX:Steam.

Thanks in advance for any answer you may be at liberty to share.

Respects, Bob...

I apologize for the lateness of this post and for my lack of your permission, Dave, for even asking such a question. It's been busy at msFLIGHTS.net and I only remembered this Twitch event now.

The Twitch feed has already past. I apologize. I deleted my question/comment on FSX:Steam news announcement.

Dave, if you could delete my post of 2nd Sep 2015 06:52:34, I would be a little less embarrassed. Do know tho that msFLIGHTS.net would love to see FSOpen tools for FSX:Steam and that we will continue to lobby Dovetail for these tools.

More embarrassing than you think Bob as it was actually 19:00UTC...

I did attend the broadcast. I did ask in channel about improvements to Multiplayer and they were unable to answer directly as the 'data' is on the Steam network servers - even though we know differently.

We are not the only ones interested in this 'partnership' as a number of people were asking.

I did get a promising lead from a direct question about FSUIPC compatibility with DFS 2016 (DFS being Dovetail's new Flight Sim which is provisionally due for release in 2016).

The mod on channel said 'We are exploring options"...

This is encouraging news for those of us whom rely upon FSUIPC for their VAs and it could bring a whole new cohort of pilots to the VA scene.

Safe flying people!

Thanks so much, Tim. In viewing the Twitch broadcast recording, I did hear the multiplayer channel improvements answer but, close as I might listen, I didn't recognize your gamertag mentioned as the inquisitor. Same with the FSUIPC question. I did wonder about the data on Steam network answer but I assumed that Martin and Aimee misunderstood what was being asked. On behalf of Steam server operators, we appreciate the clarifications here on Dave's forum.

I am encouraged to read that others are interested in this thread's partnership topic. I'll continue to stay in touch with your community on these Steam multiplayer topics via your MaldAir forums and personal emails. I'll keep my Steam specific posting off of Dave's FSX classic/P3D forums tho as the topic is not (yet) applicable here.

Respects, Bob...
