Dave Wave 8th Nov 2014 12:08:16 | Is your son on the same network as you or elsewhere? If on the same network he needs to connect using your local ip address.
What is simple port forwarding software? You need to configure your router to forward traffic and on your pc allow your firewall to accept it. If you stil have trouble drop me an email, I can sort out remotely for you for a small fee. |
Colin Pinchbeck 8th Nov 2014 12:20:35 | Hi Peter I tried connecting to you on your IP Address and message reads, cannot connect to host

Peter Heaven 10th Nov 2014 09:54:07 | Fist off - Thank you all for the info/suggestions and bothering to answer.
Basics - I will try and explain my quandary… Using the FSOPEN software on a dedicated 64 Win 7 machine, I have FSX + SP1 & SP2 installed along with the FSOPEN server. I can join any session listed No problem. I use the FSX set-up for ‘hosting’ - I use the correct ports and go through the set-up as per normal. The FSOPEN SERVER shows me as active (Newbie Trial) and gives a IP - The FSOPEN SERVER screen display shows all in the ‘green’ FSX STATUS = Running - SC Status = Online. Soooooooo Given that all things seem to be live, I am at a loss as to why others cannot connect……………. Specific answers Thank you Dave for the input - Is your son on the same network as you or elsewhere? If on the same network he needs to connect using your local ip address. No he is 300 miles away - and yes I have two machines on the home network and we have used the installed software to fly together. So I know that the basic network is fine What is simple port forwarding software? You need to configure your router to forward traffic and on your pc allow your firewall to accept it. If you stil have trouble drop me an email, I can sort out remotely for you for a small fee. Simple Port Forwarding is a software program to change ports on routers quickly for specific programs and routers. There is a free version available a but you have to do a little adding (I’m sure in your scope) and a paid version that does a lot for you. I have the full version and have used it for a few years. Web add if anyone is interested - http://www.simpleportforwarding.com/ Colin - Thanks for trying - I will answer your mail a little later, but most of the gist is here Curley Thank you for the video I am going to spend some time going over it again and again. But a little confused as the ‘Hosting’ video seems to be a ‘Connect Directly’ ……… much the same as the normal join session - I just wonder if the IP used in this part is the one allocated by the FSOPEN SESSIONS…… Again my thanks to all …………. Would be too much to ask that something should work first time .but I have been trying for months J and - Still helps to pass the time …… Thanks all |
Curley Campbell 10th Nov 2014 11:58:01 | 1st off... FSOpen software is simply a great program to help you manage your session. It has Nothing to do with connectivity.
As far as port forwarding... the SIMPLE way to do this is in your Windows Firewall. Simply set new inbound/outbound rules using the check box for "complete program" then browse there to your FSX.exe file and click OK. That should take care of that issue. Also remember... The IP address is your "machine IP" for the machine you are actually hosting the session with. To double check this on the machine you a hosting with... use the following to identify the IP address --> http://www.ip-tracker.org/ IF none of the above helps... email me @ curleycampbell@hotmail.com ... OR we can get together on TeamSpeak3 ... mine is 216.127.64.6:4115 I will be home all day and I do monitor my TS 24/7. I will be marked away "Sandpro-Away"... however, just poke me. We should be able to fix your issue quickly. |
Dave Wave 10th Nov 2014 12:08:24 | Do not use software for port forwarding. Big security risk.
1. Configure your router correctly 2. Open firewall (just for fsx) Simples |
Peter Heaven 11th Nov 2014 10:30:34 | Hello all - My thanks for all the info and feedback - At the moment trying a replacement router as I have read that the one I was using was a bit naff at port forwarding - Might solve it :-) I agree about the FSOPEN software - I was just commenting that all the indicating at the bottom of the FSOPEN SERVER screen shows 'connected' (and listening) in green and that sort of implied to me that it was working from that end ....... Full of praise for FSOPEN....... Again my thanks - I will get there :-) |
Colin Pinchbeck 11th Nov 2014 19:36:34 | Hi Peter,
looks like you managed it then, i got on to your server and it would seem that it was a router issue, i have sent you an e-mail with more details, look forward to flying with in the future. |
Peter Heaven 12th Nov 2014 09:47:31 | My thanks to all - Seem to have got off the ground, so to speak - Lots more to explore within the system. Last question for a while........ On the FSOPEN server screen when online - the tabs list various options including the link to TS3 - It mentions the TS3 Address - Not sure what is meant my this - The basic router ip? the actual computer ip or something else ?
TS3 client is on the machine and works fine, but is the requirement for the TS3Server ? - Many thanks |
Dave Wave 12th Nov 2014 10:15:30 | If you have a teamspeak server then you can use this link to automatically move pilots between channels when they change their frequency in fsx.
If you don't want this functionality just ignore it. It only works for pro versions of fsopen server. |
Peter Heaven 13th Nov 2014 09:22:57 | Thanks Dave - and all
