Hi all

I have one member who is constantly getting kicked from the session and I have no idea why. No one else is have this issue and all seems to run smooth. Bandwidth limit is selected "OFF", autokick planes is selected "OFF".

Does anyone have any ideas at all I can try to fix this issue? Thank you.

Another question I have, The server gives us the ability to "Auto kick players attacking your server by injecting planes." What does this exactly mean and what would cause this issue?

Thanks

Hey Mark,

This is usually because of he's/she's firewall(s). The symptom you are describing are quite clear, you can see the player connect and then get disconnected from the session immediately after joining. It can seem like the individual is banned but it appears no message from the bot.

This has in all cases I have looked into been a problem with the individuals firewall and not the server, the server firewall or fsopen software. As soon as the they connects, the computer will try to open up the ports to create a connection and when the firewall refuses the connection he/she will get disconnected.

Its unfortunately all to common to have overly paranoid firewalls and all to often -way to many of them-. Almost all I have helped with this problem refuse to admit its the firewall but when all comes to all and we have checked everything it proves to be their firewall/internet security system after all.

I recommend to stick to your guns on it like we have and let them sort it our themselves as most of these cases are hopeless to help since there is so many types of software's and firewalls out there. Tell them to contact the support for their software or their hardware. In some cases they can also contact their ISP which are more qualified AND are getting paid to help them.

A good indicator as well is that you have loads of other people that has no problem to connect then if one or just a few has problems its definitively because of their local setup, not the server and its setup.

Some has theories about this being caused by add-ons, but this is at least not yet been definitively proven as far as I know, it is a bit far fetched and the firewall being the cause is more plausible. However people hate to admit user-errors and will come up with anything else then to admit they did something wrong. Often they will also say they have tried everything but after being left with no option they continue investigating the lead with the firewalls and such instead and magically enough comes back having solved the problem.

After having helped enough people with this we created the guide you can find here: http://fsxeu.com/cant-connect/ Feel free to copy it or modify it as you see fit. We do not spend time on people having these problems any-more and send them directly to that guide to solve their problems and I still haven't experience anyone that haven't been able to solve it after reading this.

Q2->

The auto-kick you are describing removes multi-spawn and are a protection against them. They are definitively not good for your session if you are using the ATC radar to do ATC and it will clutter up the screen with several "ghosts". The ghost also follow one around and will appear anywhere, not only where they were spawned originally. When enough "ghosts" spawn in the ATC radar will be so cluttered up that it will become -very- hard to work with.

Its not that common to get visited by people who creates this problem, at least we have no big problems with it. One thing however that can be common in some sessions is people using weapons that is based on the multi-spawn system.

When someone fire a missile, bombs or rocket they will often appear as multi-spawn if they are not effects only, an aircraft looking like a rocket, bomb or missile. If you have object collision activated one can shoot down others with these objects one can spawn. The user being fired upon will experience object collision, if hit. The other user being hit will not see the object even if its installed on that client as well.

The spawned objects will stay after the user who spawned them leaves the session. Some also claim they create lag but the most annoying problem for us who focus on ATC is that they clutter up the ATC monitor. Each time someone fire a rocket or such it will spawn one plane. Very often named f-16 on the radar. Some claim it creates lag, but I am not to sure about it, its just a theory.

I strongly recommend to leave the protection -ON- at all times. There is no reason for it not to be active as the weapon systems are not accurate enough to be useful or fun. They only create problems for the server and leaves your users open to be shot down. If you want to have dog fights and such alike you should go for other alternatives then FSX in general as there is much better options out there then these McGyver solutions created by inventive people.

The weapons solutions are usually very badly made and you can't lock onto targets with them, so you will need to fire of a heap of them or be close enough to make sure you hit your target. Its not worth the while and not worth having your ATC radar full of "ghost objects"

We had the system deactivated but quite quickly put it back on after having experimented with it and found it to be utterly useless and nothing but trouble. I strongly recommend to leave the protection on.

Hope that answered your questions and more to!

In regards to Q2... unless you are allowing weapons usage... I also HIGHLY recommend not allowing players to inject objects into your session.

However, I host a 24/7 server which does allow weapons. They are very accurate... and can even buddy laze with other players, etc. We use the TacPack software from VRS. We also have the F-18 Suberbug from VRS. Other aircraft which work are Dino's F-14D, F-35, and the A-10. We can inject moving carriers, drones, Sam sites and Tankers for refueling. The Sam sites and the ships can fire at you.. if we choose so. We also inject other moving aircraft, ships, and tanks on the server side by using Living Word. With more to come from FSXQ@War for theaters of conflicts. Yes, it does work very well.

And Kenneth is correct... it will drive radar crazy with all the objects... as each has it's own objects for each item. If you do not have TacPack.. you will see a lot of gliders, etc.. subbing. However, we do not use ATC in my session. We do use an E2 Hawkeye for radar use... and yes... you really have to know what is what to handle your traffic. FYI, I do allow NON TacPack players in the session.. all goes well after they understand the above. Most buy the product to have real time combat with others.

Hi Curley

I purchased the Tac PAC setup quite a while ago but never really managed to learn the basics about it. Do you guys offer lessons/tutorials on getting the best out of the aircraft?

There are tutorials from VRS on "HOW TO" for everything in the WIKI (documentation). As this closely simulates the real aircraft there is a learning curve on how to run the systems, etc. We will be glad to help.

In relation to question 2, we have been making multiplayer missions on FSXEU and can report that adding AI aircraft into the mission will also create these 'ghosts' mentioned my Kenneth. The protection will kick the user from session if they load a mission flight.

Thinking about it, my previous post could actually cause problem 1...!

Hi Kenneth Brander

Sorry about the late delay but thanks so much for the imput. It seems that it went much deeper then that with the clients network settings. Thanks a million for your reply it really helped me back up while trying to find a solution. BTW great website!!
