LM Prepar3D v2 multiplayer specific discussion

May I open an initial thread for the purpose of discussing our communities' intentions of support and implementation of Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D version 2? My initial post on msFLIGHTS.net's support intentions is constantly evolving and I will come here to FSOpen forums with updates as current as I can keep that information. I will restate and paraphrase some of the relevant parts of my original posts located under "Prepare3D version 2.0 Beta video" thread with updated corrections here in this thread. My intention is not only to declare what msFLIGHTS.net as a community and I as an independent host intend to do in support of multiplayer P3Dv2 but also to solicit intentions, ideas, hosting options and obsticles to such multiplayer P3Dv2 hosting from other communities here.

LM's initial announcement of specifications, system requirements and pricing are posted on their website here:

Discussions and debates continue on msFLIGHTS.net forum at www.msflights.net. We welcome cross community participation in P3Dv2 multiplayer discussions there. Registration on our forum is NOT necessary to read such threads of discussion but IS required to actively participate. For such cross community discussions, FSOpen would be a better and more neutral forum. As I frequent Lockheed Martin's forum, FSOpen, FSX Beyond Gamespy and msFLIGHT.net, I'm finding the most multiplayer specific volume, knowledge, accuracy and links to futher information on msFLIGHTS.net's website. I believe it would be in our cross community interest to bring such multiplayer discussions here to FSOpen, at least as may be pertinant to our collective communities.

I will offer a public open multiplayer host for P3Dv2 on the day of release, Monday, 25 November. As is our custom at msFLIGHTS.net, in-game voice will be disabled for the same technical reasons that we disable it in FSX. Pilots in this public P3Dv2 host will be welcome to use our TeamSpeak, use their own community's comms or use in-game chat text. I have not yet received permission nor dispatch to associate this open P3Dv2 host with the name of msFLIGHTS.net. However, polling and voting indicates a 2 to 1 interest in purchasing P3Dv2 in our group and, after all, msFLIGHTS.net IS a multiplayer simulations community. According to me, Multiplayer Simulations is what the "ms" in msFLIGHTS.net now stands for.

I will open this P3Dv2 host under the IP address of 71.231.12.143 initially. This P3Dv2 host IP address will change eventually. Such information and updates will be posted here at FSOpen as well as our website as we progress. msFLIGHTS.net will continue to operate it's traditional FSX-FSOpen host server 24/7/365 independent of any P3Dv2 efforts. For approximately two weeks after 25 November, msFLIGHTS.net's FSX-FSOpen host will operate out of IP address 70.180.222.57. Again, current host information and updates will be kept current here at FSOpen, on our website and on our TeamSpeak at TS ID msflights.jmainguy.com.

Initially, I won't be attempting P3Dv2 concurrency with our FSX-FSOpen host. The different hosts will be run in parallel, one platform's pilots seeing only those other pilots in the multiplayer enviornment they are in but NOT able to see pilots in the other platform. Eventually (and soon), I hope for concurrency between the two platforms that msFLIGHTS.net may opperate. I look forward to Dave Wave's efforts and direction here at FSOpen before I go much further in my concurrency efforts. ChocolateSoftware's FSHost enviornment may at some future date be again explored by msFLIGHTS.net but we will wait to see how FSOpen may address concurrency before making any decisions.

Please, everybody, pilots as well as administrators, your multiplayer specific ideas and counsel are solicited.

Respects, Bob...
