Hello All,

I am a 17yr old who runs a FSX club at my school, as I'm in the Sixth Form now, I've been given additional computer priviledges by the school to help run my club. I would like to set up an FSOpen server on my schools internal network, but I would like some guidence in doing so.
I have already established I may be able to get a dedicated server machine, but I would like to ask how good FSOpen server is in an internal server environment where an internet filter applies (RM).

I would ideally want to teach the kids to use software such as Flight Strips and Pilot Assistant, so I was wondering if I could negotiate with you as to what is the best way to teach them, whether I should use their school emails etc. As far as I know, no-one has set up an FSOpen server like this before, but I would like to use FSOpen's server as it is by far the best server software I have found. Please could you give me some advice and guidence, and maybe someone to contact directly. Thanks in advance.

-Kind Regards, R.Coton

Should work fine inside a firewall. Just need a machine capable of runnung fsx.

FSopen server/flight strips/pilot assistant all need to communicate with fsopen backend via standard html.

If users are likely to use at home as well then use their own email accounts.

If the FSOpen server is communicating with the website, can you please tell me what information is sent, I suppose my school would not want IP addresses displayed publicly and neither the server itself considering it is an internal network based purely fo the school.
As far as I'm aware they will not be using it at home.

You an select if the ip address is displayed or not. Besides, if your firewall doesn't allow fsx traffic in it's not going to get anywhere.
