The Use Of TacPack

Dave,

Members at FSXWorldwide have recently invested in VRS's Tackpack. I decided to trial Tacpack on the server.

I activated the tacpack onto the server but whenever someone loads into the session, the server cuts off completely, disconnecting everyone.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Have NOT experienced that particular problem. Running TacPack on the server for some time. I have hosted my session with a low end XP (now my backup server) ... tested on Win7 Laptop.. and currently running on a higher end Win7 PC.

Make sure you have TacPack auto start on your server... when you start FSX. There is an option in the TPM (under preferenced) to set it to "Never", "Always", or "Prompt"

The only impact FSOpen would have (as far as TacPack)... is to make sure you UNCHECK the box under AutoKicks ,... "Auto Kick Spawners".... as VRS TacPack DOES inject objects into the session... and that will auto kick any players when they join using TacPack.

On the machine I fly with... I always have TacPack running when I join... and often fly other aircraft. Because I have TacPack running.... that would indeed auto kick me.. if that box was checked on my server... even though I might be flying a Hawkeye. However, it will NOT take the server down (which, of course, is on my server PC.)

Standard stuff.. make sure on your server you have ports 6111-6122 forwarded, if you are on a router. I also allow FSX.exe (complete program) in both inbound/outbound rules in the windows firewall.

Hope that helps.

Opps... One more thing. I assume you realize you need to have BOTH the Superbug AND TACPack.... liscened and registered to the machine you are hosting with.

Example I have 2 sets... one for my server.. and one for the PC I fly with.

I have hosted (6 years)... origianally AICarrier2 Ops; now changed to FSXCarrierOPs... when VRS came out. Reason for the change. of course, was we now have both Static Carriers... and the TacPack moving ships available on the server.

I fly as SandPro... and you may also see me around on other servers.. helping them out, etc.
