| New Host - questions | |
David Bartlam ![]() 13th Jun 2013 11:10:51 | Hey! Two questions which I need answering, I've tried searching the forum but to no avail...
As a server host, how do we kick clients from the server? I can't use the bot nor find a function in the Server programme. Secondly, I'd like my server to run with a static IP but unfortunately, BT don't offer this service. Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a way to overcome the situation? Is there a server hosting site that I can run the server through to create a static IP? Many thanks in advance for the replies |
Joe Clifford ![]() 13th Jun 2013 11:43:49 | Bonjor,
1)To kick from the server machine you right click the players name in the 'Players List' in the FSX chat box and the option to ' Kick From Session' will appear. Click that. 2)BT do offer the service however its part of their business package which is an extra £5 p/m if I remember correctly. There is no service (to my knowledge) that will give you a static IP and forward it to what ever yours happens to be at the time. Something you may consider doing is what some sessions do which is get a company to host a session for you. They basically set up a computer for you which you have remote access to, enabling you to install FSX, Host your TeamSpeak server from the same machine (get a free licence enabling you to have something like 500 slots for no monthly cost other than that to host the machine), even set it up as a web hosting machine that you hold your website on. This would mean that instead of paying loads of company's for : - Teamspeak Server with only a limited number of slots, flood limits and other restrictions - Website with limited bandwidth, uploads/download speeds - Electricity to power the server - Extra cost to get a static IP It would all be going to one company where by which you can do it all. Admittedly, it's not easy to get set up and can be quite expensive but you have to remember that you are using it for a lot of things that you will No longer need to pay other companies for. You said that you wanted to host your own server for FSX 24/7, to be honest if you do decide to do so, you may as well host TeamSpeak from it as well. Save some money and you wouldn't be restricted with what you could do with it! Regards Joe |

Thank you for the kicking tip, we had a controller online at egcc yesterday for seven hours without being on Teamspeak (he'd forgot to log out), I had to get another admin to eject him Yea its going to be a 24/7 server. How would I go about hosting Teamspeak myself? Would that go through my computer or website host? Apologies for the questions Joe but I can't seem to get my answers from anywhere else at the moment |
Joe Clifford ![]() 13th Jun 2013 16:25:36 | I am always scanning the forums to a see where I can help. Glad to be of service.
Teamspeak server will run from your computer, the same one that is running FSX. It's really quite simple, install the server, set up some firewall and porting rules and bobs your uncle. The only issue you would have is if your IP address changed people would need to be informed of the new Address. A way to combat this is to sign up to a website that provides you with a URL that forwards to your IP. You then dowload a little program that runs on your PC that monitors for an IP change. If it changes it updates where the URL routes to. I can pop onto your TS if you like to explain it further or if you need help setting it up. I've already been in once so got the details and was registered. Regards Joe |

|
David Bartlam ![]() 15th Jun 2013 23:01:20 | Lucas, it's server-host dependant. The hosts can decide which aircraft to ban. A FSXWorldwide, we welcome everyone in all aircraft BUT we do get a few people in fast jets disturbing our pilots, therefore we have to eject them.
Nothing wrong with flying F18's so long as you are sensible, not a nuisance and you respect the people flying. Many servers have dedicated virtual airlines, pilots fly for hours on end, there's nothing worse than flying for a number of hours, turning onto final then a kid in an F18 smashes into you |
Lucas Rosas 15th Jun 2013 23:24:46 | Sure,i wont be disturbing anyone,thanks for answering my question !

Lucas Rosas 15th Jun 2013 23:34:03 | One more question, supose that i am landing in a airport without atc how do i know when to land ? |
David Bartlam ![]() 15th Jun 2013 23:36:41 | If you are in a Teamspeak server, they should all have a Unicom channel, use that.
If you are using a default FSX comm system, try the airport frequencies and then Unicom... Always check if ATC is on. Using the session flight map will tell you where the controllers and pilots are :) |
Lucas Rosas 16th Jun 2013 00:40:19 | ok,thanks !
