Connection Time Outs

I have been testing the fsopen server software and it seems a great addition to FSX.
But I am having an issue with connection time outs. I run a netgear N900 router with a broadband connection. The connection is 50 Mbps down and 5 Mbps Up.

The fsx server is on Gamespy and not losing connection with Gamespy at the times of lost connection with the fsopen software.

Any ideas appreciated

Hi Bruce,

Sounds like you have a very fast internet connection. I'm jealous!

Can you clarify what you mean by you are losing connection with fsopen software? Screenshot of any errors etc would be great if you can email to me or post here.

Thanks

Hi Dave
Thanx for the help.

I actually just upgraded from 10 MB and have hardly got to test it out myself. But members have said its smooth flying now. I will see about getting a screenshot tomorrow.

My connection in all my other servers seems to stay connected. I run about 10 fshost servers, a fsx gamespy server, a halo server, teamspeak 3 and a live for speed server. I was wondering what ports are being used by fshost? Does the fshost software use the standard fsx ports?

I have also tried not having the server posted on the fsopen home page thinking maybe the lost connection was their. It still timed out.

I will get a screeny up in the mourn ..

Thanx again for the help

FSopen host just monitors fsx network traffic on 6112 to 6122. FSopen then communicates with our server on tcp port 80.

You still need to be specific on what connection is being lost. Gamespy, fsx players or fsopen server. The later shouldn't matter as it's only pushing info up on where players are to use for the maps etc. If the connection fails it just tries again later.

I have not got a screenshot yet but may not need to.
My halo server uses port 80 and I believe thats where issue is. I will close the halo server as no one plays on it anymore anyway and test. I can always change the halo server port number at a later date.

Ill let you know if that fixed issue.

Thanx again

Negative.

Halo will be listening on 80, fsopen server is connecting to 80 so will be using a random free port on your server.

It won't affect it.

Yes I see.

It has already timed out after the restart.

So something is causing me to lose connection to you. All my other connections seem to stay live and connected.

I thought for sure I had it. lol

The names on the fsx server and the fsopen software do not match because of limited characters in the field. Could this be issue? Ive also noticed other server names longer then the allowed characters how is this possible?

Any other ideas appreciated
Thanx Bruce

Where is my screenshot?

suspect you just see a message saying a timeout occured.

The server will continue working, it's just the last update failed.

I limit the name length so the front web page doesn't look stupid. No need for the name to be the same.

Yes it seems to reconnect but I believe if a flight plan is filed that info is lost.

With the server name I have noticed other groups with names longer then mine working on your homepage. What is it I am missing? I had to leave a "s" off the end and remove spaces.

I tried to add a link and a screenshot but neither would work. When I press ok I get nothing. So here is URL to screenshot.
