| Help with becoming a pilot | |
Rory Scanlan 13th Feb 2011 14:02:16 | Hi guys,
I know i haven't been on much lately, I haven't been able to get to my PC i will be back on this week ! Any way, I'm 20 and the one job i want is to become a pilot, I have aspirations to become a commercial airline pilot, but i would love even to fly cargo. So i am just asking for a bit of advice, first off should i start with a PPL, or is there another course i can jump straight into? also is it company policy's that i go to college and university to study aviation? Or would this be an advantage. I also have a local flying club(http://www.southendflyingclub.co.uk/) but do airlines or cargo company's prefer if you get your license in a larger and more busy air strip ? Any advice would be super beneficial. Thanks guys! Rory Scanlan |

The good thing about the aviation industry is that there is no "snobbery" when it comes to educational background. The bad news is that you have to be able to afford several £££££'s in order to fund your way into a position where someone will pay you to fly. The best advice on the whole process will probably be through your local flying club but there are plenty of magazines where you can get an idea too - "Pilot" is probably the best to start with. If you are serious, then PPL or NPPL is the first step. Good luck mate. M |

Thanks again |
