Looks real nice. One problem though... the file extention ends with .zipx This causes a failure when unzipping in Vista. Dont know if Im the only one with that problem... - Victor |
Paul Humphries ![]() 10th Jan 2011 22:06:51 | Sorry, try this instead.

Mick McG ![]() 12th Jan 2011 20:03:24 | Yep, great job again Paul. Screen shots look great.
I'm a computer biff and haven't sussed out how to get it into my FSX "hangar" yet, (but I'll grab someone on TS to talk me through it) - That is unless someone has the time and patience to open a new thread in the forum to explain step by step exactly how I go about it - and I when I say step by step,I mean assume absolutely no previous knowledge! lol. Thanks again tho mate - these skins are a great addition. M |
David Simon ![]() 12th Jan 2011 21:06:08 | Hi Micky
Hopefully this helps. Download the zip file go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes Select which plane you are applying the skin for.. for examples sake a boeing 737 the folder would be C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800 Copy the skin inside the folder, make sure it is named Texture.X (X being the next number available, folders usualy start from 1 to x for it to work, numbers going up) Open your aircraft.cfg file and edit it. You will see segments like the one below... [fltsim.6] title=Boeing 737-800 Fs Open VA sim=Boeing737-800 model= panel= sound= texture=7 kb_checklists=Boeing737-800_check kb_reference=Boeing737-800_ref atc_id=fsopen atc_airline=Fs Open atc_flight_number= ui_manufacturer="Boeing" ui_type="737-800" ui_variation="Fs Open VA" ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner" ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation" description="One should hardly be surprised that the world's most prolific manufacturer of commercial aircraft is also the producer of the world's most popular jetliner. The 737 became the best-selling commercial jetliner worldwide when orders for it hit 1,831 in June 1987 (surpassing Boeing's own 727 as the previous champ). However, it wasn't always that way\s in the first few years of production, there were so few orders that Boeing considered canceling the program. They didn't, and the airplane has more than proven itself in over three decades of service." find the last one, and below it place the text provided in the readme of the plane after this, make sure its ONE space between the beginning and end of the segment, also number the fltsim.X with the next available number in the config Before, i asked you to put Texture.X in the aircraft folder, whatever X is on the folder name... in the config replace "texture=X" with that folder namer and save it. I hope this helps.. am not good at explaining stuff! David |
