| ATCO4, 4RS and ATCO3 Evaluations - Thursday 13th January | |

I know a number of ATC students are currently seeking evaluation for the ATCO Ratings-> Most of who have been studying privately and not being mentored. Thursday (13th) will provide these students the opportunity for evaluation and will take place at Birmingham Intl from 1930z. If you have a particular time that you wish to control at then please post below otherwise you'll probably end up in a queue!! For students who are unable to attend please post below. If there are any quick questions that you need answering before your evaluation- (perhaps just one thing is bugging you!) then I will do my best to answer (Post below or email christianrsmith@live.co.uk or speak to any ATCO Controller on t/s) Those students who are required to reassess and who are not able to attend Saturday sessions will be offered a fixed weekly time for Monday evenings for one-to-one or two mentoring with myself or directed to a ATCO Controller able to mentor over the week. May I draw your attention to the ATC section of the site providing information on the evaluation, and of course, CAP413. Regards, Christian |

| Christian Smith 11th Jan 2011 14:01:10 | For each ATCO Grade you move up, you must have had the elements of that position evaluated. If you are available I can evaluate you at Birmingham on Thursday. Times free are as follows:
(EGBB ATCO Evaluations (with Christian) Available times:) 1945 - 2015 : Free 2030 - 2100 : Booked 2130 - 2200 : Free 2200 - 2230 : Free Until I speak with another examiner this evening, these are currently the only 3 slots free. Regards, Christian |

Familiarised with Flightstrips Record complete ATIS Gives competant Pushback and Taxi Instructions (Approved - Runway - Hold - Via) Can give IFR clearances including standard and non-standard departures Handles VFR traffic with pre-flight information Can handle and manage simultaneous inbounds and outbounds Can handle VFR circuits and departures Can balance VFR and IFR traffic inbound Able to make decisions about active runway and circuits (direction/height) Hand-offs always appropriate Good RT Additional tips: (Allocated correct SID or radar determined NSD and Squawk code) (QNH is passed with NSD or Push/Power Back (as relevant)) (Uses forward planning in the traffic pattern - appreciates varying aircraft speeds) (Clears aircraft at safe distance (Wind information, States runway, can issue wind checks, able to give wake cautions)) (Flightstrip Handoffs are correctly timed) |

| Christian Smith 11th Jan 2011 16:51:04 | The final available session is at 10pm, should you be unable to make this, please watch the forum and I will try and arrange a similar evening in a couple of weeks time.
Alternatively, email me and we'll try and arrange something. It should be noted that we need traffic in order to assess people, and this isn't always practical unless its an arranged evaulation night. Christian |
